Commissions and Custom Orders

This colourful set was ordered for a fun-loving family.

Once I discovered glass fusing I realised that the possibilities were endless. We can create pieces with amazing, brilliant colours or elegant, subdued colours that will enhance your living space.

You can order TABLE WARE such as plates, serving dishes, dessert bowls, or sushi sets that is just for you! You decide on size, colour and style and I will make it for you. Each piece is hand made and variations are to be expected. All fused glass table ware is food safe and meant to be used. However, glass is more sensitive to temperature fluctuations than ceramic so avoid microwave use.
It will take three to five weeks to finish your order. click here

The customer chose this 16 inch custom dish for his daughter’s wedding.

Are you familiar with the Unity Sand Ceremony wherein a couple pours two different colours of sand into a vase to symbolize their coming together? You can create a similar symbol but instead of sand we use glass.

A truly memorable moment for the new couple is when they choose the colours for their piece. Together the colours form a swirl representing the dance of life. Now you think, how is that possible to do this with glass?
Glass also comes in granulates as small as powders. To work with this fine glass it is almost like creating a sand painting. The difference is that the art work will be fused and becomes solid glass.
Together at my studio we make a fused glass piece that is either a bowl, a platter, or something of your choice for that special event in your life.
It will take about one week from the time you come to my studio until the glass is fired. click here

This sample has no ashes included. 6″ bowl with crackle technique with light blue, blue aventurine accents on pale pink. You can choose your own colours.

The dance of life comes to end. When a loved one passes we find ways to honour their memory and to keep a part of them close to us. A memorial piece, typically a six inch bowl, includes a small amount of your loved one’s ashes mixed into powdered glass. The powdered glass “crackles” during fusing and the ashes can then be seen through the glass when the bowl is held up to the light. If you wish I can include a swirl representing the cycle of life, or any other religious symbol, or no design just two or three different colours.
A six inch bowl including the ashes, sitting on a hand made satin pillow is $ 150.00
A variety of colours are available. It takes up to three weeks to complete the order.
The wooden box is made by Dean Raiche and has to be ordered seperately. click here

Do not think in tiles – this is an art studio and we can go as creative as you like.

The photos below are of a commission I received for a house at the West side of Okanagan Lake. There is a plum tree in front of the house and the customer asked for plums and Oregon grape design in the ‘Arts and Crafts’ style, but with a contemporary twist. I made some samples in different techniques and drawings for the client to view. At the same time there was some collaboration with Carolina Sanchez de Bustemante, who did ceramic tiles. The carpenter placed the glass and did the finishing work. Photos of front door and cabinet doors are by Yuri Akuney.

This plate came in three pieces and I was able to fix it, much to the customers delight.

Precious memory made of glass

This past summer we celebrated a 60th birthday by spending five days in Kelowna and filling them with wonderful activities and new experiences. On our list of 60 things to do was create an art piece. After doing a little research I decided on fused glass with Annemarie. None of us had done it before and with Annemarie’s patience and instruction, we all created a beautiful memory of a special event. Personally I am hooked! I can’t wait to return and learn more about fused glass and create more glass art. Thank you Annemarie!

First time working with glass

I visited Annemarie's studio last summer when I was travelling through Kelowna and created my very first glass dish. I had never worked with glass before and she was an excellent teacher. It was totally hands on: you do all your own cutting and shaping, you get to choose whatever colours and different types of glass that you want, you get to be totally free and Annemarie helps you if you get stuck or can't decide what to do next. I created a 10" plate that I have displayed in my window. I love how the light shines through it and I can't wait to go back next time I am in the Okanagan. My next plate will be even more experimental! Thank you Annemarie!
